“Welcoming the Stranger?” Joanne Castner, a Mercy Associate of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, will make a presentation at the Bloomsburg Public Library on Saturday, November 8, at 1:30 pm. She has spent time in Texas and Mexico on an immersion trip sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. She will share what she learned about the root causes of immigration and why people flee their homelands despite the dangers and uncertainty, and how our country’s policies have changed in 2025 to the detriment of our immigrant communities. Joanne Castner is a spiritual director with graduate degrees in counseling and administration. The program is sponsored by the Cultural and Religious Alliance and the Immigrant Support Group in Bloomsburg.
