Plant Sale, Bake Sale, and Tours of the Meetinghouse. 17 May 2025 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
The first Millville Quakers worshiped in a log building constructed in 1795. In 1847 a new Meeting House was built with brick and continues to be the place where we gather.
Today the Meeting House is still a hub of activity and a place to learn, grow, and meet with friends. In addition to our meetings for worship, we also provide regular educational programs, activities for children, and social times.
Would you like to learn more about our meeting? Feel free to contact us.
The Millville Friends Meeting is part of a larger collection of meeting houses from the surrounding geographical area, called the Upper Susquehanna Quarterly Meeting. This collective of meetings and meeting houses comprises Elklands, Huntington, Lewisburg, Millville, North Branch, Pennsdale, State College, Towanda and Wellsboro.

“Friends”? “Quakers”?
In the 17th century, the early members of a new sect in England called themselves “Friends of the Truth”. Outsiders often called them “Quakers”, referring to Friends whose voices quivered or “quaked” when they spoke in Meeting for Worship, sometimes from spiritual intensity. As their spiritual descendants, we are officially termed the “Religious Society of Friends”. We also have adopted the name “Quakers”.
Children’s Program
Currently, we have a children's program twice a month (we hope to return to weekly children’s programs in the near future). See What to Expect on this page for details.
Contact Us at least a day ahead of time to find out if we have a children’s program on an upcoming Sunday.)

Greenwood Friends School
Millville Meeting has a close relationship with Greenwood Friends School, an independent school. We host a monthly weekday Meeting for Worship for all students and adults at the School, and Millville Friends often join in the weekly Meeting for Worship at the School. Meeting hosts occasional social events for School families. Millville Meeting Friends volunteer in a number of roles at the School, from classroom assistants to Board members.
For more information, visit the Greenwood Friends School website.
Our Meeting for Worship begins at 10 am every First Day (Sunday), and lasts about an hour. At its conclusion, we introduce ourselves and greet each other. On the second First Day of each month, our Meeting for Worship is in hybrid format – we gather in person and online. On most Sundays we have an adult discussion or a social hour from about 11:15 to about noon. You are welcome to join us for that, also.
Our historic Quaker Meetinghouse is at 351 East Main Street in Millville, across Main Street from Millville High School.
You can access our parking by turning onto South Chestnut Street, then take the first driveway to the left. Park somewhere near the top of the driveway slope, and enter the Meetinghouse side door, where there is a small porch.
That entrance is wheelchair accessible. Inside that door, just go straight ahead to our worship room on the far side of the building.
You will probably meet Friends on the way.
Restrooms are near the side door entrance.
Monthly Meeting for Business
On the second Sunday of each month, at 9 am, we hold our monthly Meeting for Business. This is a hybrid meeting – Friends in person and online (on Zoom) meet together. We address the actions and practical affairs of Meeting. We seek to follow the leading of the Spirit in making shared decisions. You are welcome to attend.
At 10 am, we adjourn for our regular Meeting for Worship, which continues in hybrid format (see below). If not all business is finished, we resume Meeting for Business at 11:10 am.
If you are not on our email list, Contact Us at least a day ahead of time for the Zoom link if you want to attend Meeting for Business or Meeting for Worship on Zoom.
Hybrid Meeting for Worship
On the second Sunday of each month, we also hold Meeting for Worship as a hybrid Meeting. Friends gather in person and online in one Meeting for Worship. You are welcome to join us in either format. (We occasionally hold hybrid Meeting for Worship on other Sundays as well; these are announced ahead of time.)
(Contact Us at least a day ahead of time to obtain the Zoom link for attending online.)
